On my walk this morning…

Morning Walk

The mornings are getting colder and darker, so I need to think about what I am looking forward to over winter:

  • My next newsletter will be sent on Thursday July 2.  I’m trying to decide the colour of the month for July.  This month is brown.  Any suggestions?
  • My next shift at T’Arts is on July 11.  I love spending the day in the shop, and really look forward to connecting with the customers who visit.
  • The Craftapalooza Market!  A special Flinders Street Market event on 18-19 July.  I will be there both days.
  • SALA Festival starts August 1.  I will have some recycled glass bead jewellery in the City Library.  And a small selection of work will be included as part of Pepper Street Art Gallery “Renew” exhibition.
  • A trip to Melbourne in August!  I am going to spend the weekend with my mum.  Can’t wait.

OK, maybe winter won’t be so bad after all.

The Colour Brown – with a splash of Red

This is part of a series of posts about colour.  This month I am focusing on the colour brown.

Brown and Red look so great together, it’s because if you had to mix brown as a paint colour, you would have some red in there to start making it.  Brown, when you put it with red, is really harmonious.

I have made an assortment of beads for the following necklaces, all with brown and red patterns, and I have to say if I wasn’t a red/black/white girl, I might have changed my mind after this week and become a red/brown girl!

Both of these necklaces were available for sale in my shop, however the long version of this necklace has already sold.  Click on each photo to take you to the listing in the shop.

If you would like to be on my newsletter list, where you will find out about all of the latest product releases, and also be in with a chance to win a pair of earrings…simply subscribe here!

Morning Walk Inspiration

This morning I am feeling grateful:

  • I had an amazing day at Red Poles Sea and Vine Festival Pop-Up Market on Saturday.  I shared a gazebo with 2 other lovely artists, and we spent the quiet parts of the day chatting, eating cheese platters and maybe indulging in one glass of bubbles!
  • I am grateful for my husband, supporting me in the business I choose to run, and looking after the kids when I have to work.  Seriously lucky.
  • I am doing a great course at the moment on wholesaling my products, and I am extremely grateful for all of the information, new ideas, and actions that I am taking as a result.  I have no idea where all of this will end up, but it’s exciting!
  • Thanks for the orders that have come through for the new colour of the month jewellery.  I took some of it to the markets, and it got a really great response.  Thank you.

And a big thanks to you for reading my blog!

The Colour Brown

This is part of a series of posts about colour.  This month I am focusing on the colour brown.

I have a confession to make.  I don’t wear the colour brown!  I think it’s because I wear a lot of black, I just haven’t ever bothered with brown.

Last month I started playing with some brown and purple colour combinations, and I thought to myself…hmm, brown is pretty cool, it works really well with a lot of colours.

That’s why I made it the colour of the month.

Brown is a great neutral colour in your wardrobe, and you’ll see over the course of the month how great the colour can look with all sorts of other colours.

Let’s start with brown and ivory.  Ivory is a great contrast to the darker brown.

On my walk this morning…

My Morning Walk June 1st - 1st day of winterI’ll be honest.  I hate winter.

Today I am looking forward to:

  • My newsletter coming out on Thursday!  Subscribe now for your chance to win a pair of earrings.  I will have some new jewellery ready too.
  • Red Poles Market Bazaar on Saturday.  It’s part of the Sea and Vines festival held on the long weekend in the McLaren Vale wine region.
  • Finishing the book “A Table in the Orchard – My Delicious Life” by Michelle Crawford.  It’s a great book about a family who moved to Tasmania, and started a new life there.
  • Spring!  I know there are people who absolutely love winter time, but I’m not one of them.  I tend to hibernate during winter, come up with new designs ready for my SALA exhibitions, preparing for a crazy spring/summer season.

Hope you have a great week!

Life…

I would normally post something today, but life has kind of gotten in the way this week.

You know how it is?  Kids.  Business.  Problems.  Life.

I have some exciting new things in development, but they are going to have to wait until next week to share with you.

Until then, have a great week!

And don’t forget to sign up for my monthly newsletter for your chance to win a pair of earrings from my online shop!

The Colour Purple – with Yellow

This is part of a series of posts about colour.  This month I am focusing on the colour purple.

This colour combination is awesome.  There is something really modern and also really funky about it.

I had planned to make some new necklaces to show on the blog, but unfortunately this week, life got in the way a little bit, so I have ended up using photographs of some necklaces that I made last year (sorry about that).

Both of those necklaces have sold, so it made me realise that….yes, I should make some more necklaces with these colour combinations!  Darn it!  When I get some new work made, I’ll be sure to put an update on the blog.

I’ve really enjoyed looking at the colour purple, and the colours that it works really well with.

Next month, the colour of the month is BROWN!  I will be doing things a little bit differently next month, and will hopefully be a little more organised!

Morning WalkThinking about the word NEVER:

  • I thought I would NEVER have kids.  I just didn’t think I would get that opportunity, and now I have 2 lovely little kids, and I love being a mum.
  • I thought I would NEVER get married.  I just didn’t really think the idea had any merit, until I met Nick.
  • I thought I would NEVER be able to run my business to support my family, but I have also been able to do that.
  • I thought I would NEVER sell the house I bought in Adelaide, but it’s about to go on the market, it just makes sense.
  • I thought I would NEVER go back to University, but I found out last week that I got accepted into a post-graduate course that I really wanted to do, and I couldn’t be happier!

Never say NEVER!
