Rainbow bracelets

I made several rainbow bracelets recently, and I have to admit….every time I make these bracelets I wish I made an extra one for myself.  They are so easy to wear, lots of colour.

In fact, I think I am going to make a couple for myself very soon.  They will be my little pop of colour on these rainy days.

I have had a tricky week, with sick children, and it has had a bit of an impact on how many beads I got made this week.  Still, kids come first, and I’ll get to the work when I get a chance.

Greenery #4

And for the final part of the Greenery series, inspired by the Pantone 2017 colour of the year, I have a series of new earrings.  A variety of greens.  Something for everyone!

Making custom necklaces…

I love the process of making necklaces for people.  Sometimes it’s really clear what the customer wants, and it all goes fairly smoothly.

Other times, the vision is less clear, so I make what I think the customer will like….and sometimes I get it right!  But sometimes I get it wrong (like the photograph below).

I have no problems with getting it wrong, because I feel that sometimes you have to see something to know if you like it or not.  And if it’s not quite right….it’s usually fairly easy to tweak it to make it right.

It has been a busy week in the studio with some orders, some top-ups and a market.  I don’t mind a busy week, but now I have to tidy things again, and regroup a little bit so I can work out what I’m working on next!

Greenery #3

I used a mix of green recycled glass beads for these necklaces including Green Depression glass, wine bottles, Peroni beer bottles and Moet champagne bottles!  A lovely mix of bead shapes and finishes in each necklace.

Ah, it’s been nice to be in my new studio, it’s working out quite well.  I have been making lots of recycled glass beads.  It’s kind of interesting to work with the limitations of the recycled glass, you can’t go too crazy with the decoration on those beads as you have to stick to the same type of glass to avoid cracking issues.  But it’s nice to always have my Italian glass near me so I can daydream about the colours, and combinations of colours.

Greenery #2

When Pantone release a colour of the year, they also add some colour schemes along with it, which makes it really interesting for someone like me to play with.  I enjoyed looking at the Fathomless and Moody Blooms colour schemes, and working out what glass to use to create necklaces.

So, a few people have asked me how the move went, and I have to say it was great.  The kids now have their own bedrooms, and I have a studio that has been seriously tidied up!  I am probably not in the ideal part of the house for making beads, but I am going to make the most of the time that I am there.  At least the room has air conditioning!  Not sure I’ll need it for much longer though.

I have released a series of new jewellery over the weekend, all inspired by Greenery, the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2017.  Check out the shop for more information.

I’ll be at the Murray Bridge Handmade Market on Saturday 25 March.  I’m really looking forward to doing a market again, it has been a while!  I’ll have some old and new work available on the day.

Hope all is well wherever you are!
