So, after a really lovely break by the beach with the family, it’s back to reality!  I have to get work ready for three SALA exhibitions!

  1. Bethany Wines.  I will be exhibiting a range of jewellery made from Bethany Wine bottles!  I have been loving working with these bottles, and look forward to showing you this new range of work.
  2. Pepper Street.  Their group exhibition is “The Art of Craft” and my work for this will be inspired by the colour wheel.  I spend a lot of time looking at my colour wheel!
  3. T’Arts.  The gallery will also be showcasing members work with the theme “greenery” and I have some lovely pieces almost ready to go!

Yes, lots of work to do now to get these exhibitions delivered.

Kirra Galleries – Flame On 2017

It was fantastic to be able to visit Melbourne while the Flame On exhibition was on at Kirra Galleries!  It was an added bonus to see 3 of my necklaces in the exhibition had sold.

Big thanks to Kirra Galleries for hosting such an amazing display of Australian glass artists.  It was lovely to see the work of other artists in real life!

I took this photo of my work on display.  After I took this photo the staff members mentioned that it was going to be changed around because of the necklaces that had been sold.

This is my work after it was changed, it was nice to see it all collated on one board!  And I love how they changed the way the earrings were displayed too.  Thanks again Kirra Galleries!

Colour Play – Black and White #2

Some more black and white jewellery in this series!

I love putting black and white together in these beads, and reversing the colours too.  A bit of a statement piece, the necklace works perfectly with lots of clothes in my wardrobe!  (Think black, grey, white and red)!

I love these earrings too.  The bead sits flat against your earlobe, and then the silver wire hangs at the back of your ear, making it quite a secure stud style of earring.  I have seen them called threader earrings, and I think that name works well, as you do kind of thread them through your lobe.

If you like the look of any of these pieces, they are available in my online shop.  Click on any of the photos to take you there!

This week we are having a little break by the beach!  Time to refresh, recharge, and enjoy the school holidays with our kids.  (I love that my husband is a school teacher and we get to have these holiday times together).

No plans for the week, except to make the most of these glorious sunny winter days.  Walking, building sand castles, exploring.  And when it starts to rain, we’ll be reading, drawing, playing games and whatever else we can find to do.

Colour Play – Black and White #1

This month I have made a series of black and white jewellery.  I love black and white together.  I think it’s perfect for summer or winter actually, and works with so many other colours too.

I love this necklace.  The clear glass gives it a lot of sparkle, and picks up the colours of what you are wearing.  And the earrings sit really nicely, just below the lobe, and longer at the back.  I think they might be some of my new favourites.

Making recycled glass beads

I am busy making all sorts of beads at the moment.  SALA starts in August, and I have some new work to make for the two exhibitions that I am involved in!  Getting ready for exhibitions takes a huge amount of effort, but they are always worthwhile.  I love creating new work, and SALA really forces me to try new things.  I look forward to sharing some work with you soon.

Flame On 2017

It’s always an honour to be part of the annual Flame On exhibition at Kirra Galleries in Melbourne.  I am excited that this year I’ll get to see all of the work, as it is starting soon, and we are heading to Melbourne in the school holidays.

I have been making so many beads lately, I have lots of projects happening!  I really need to find time to make some jewellery soon.  These beads will be used for the Colour Play jewellery that I am making TODAY!  I should have the work photographed and listed soon.  Stay tuned!
