Day 36 – Blue square hoop earrings

Recycled glass earrings | blue square hoop earrings, beads made from gin and vodka bottles

I have been doing a lot of swimming at the local swimming pool and on sunny days the reflections under the water are mesmerising. As I was searching through my recycled glass beads this morning these beads, made from gin and vodka bottles, reminded me of the sparkles that I was seeing in the pool. All sorts of reflections and interactions of colour in this pair of earrings.

Day 35 – Blue/Green enamel necklace

Recycled glass necklace | glass beads made from wine, gin, vodka and champagne bottles, with enamel tube beads

Inspired by Monday. When I was planning this week I wrote “more enamel tube necklaces please”. I love all of the colour in this necklace, the enamel tubes are layers and layers of colour, so interesting to make them. The second photo shows a closeup of the necklace so you can see the layers. Beads are made from wine, gin, vodka and champagne bottles.

Day 33 – Behind the Scenes Saturday

Making glass beads | behind the scenes in the lampwork studio

Behind the scenes Saturday. My view, while I am making beads, is of all these amazing colours that Italian glass comes in. Recycled glass is a lot less colourful and a whole lot trickier to work with too. But that’s fine with me, as it’s all part of the process of discovering what works and what doesn’t. Keeps it interesting.

Thanks to Posina Rossingham for the beautiful photo.

Day 28 – Enamel Mismatch Earrings

Recycled glass earrings | pink recycled glass beads with enamel copper tubes

Inspired by Monday! I was tidying my desk this morning and found a bunch of copper tubes that I had enamelled for an exhibition last year. I had actually forgotten how much I enjoyed the process and the finished result! I am definitely going to be making more pieces this year. This pair of mismatch earrings features enamel copper tubes and the pink beads from Friday!
