Day 366. Oh gosh! 366 pairs of earrings later and my challenge for this year is finished! It’s a bittersweet feeling, and I am ending the challenge with some of my favourite earrings for the year – mismatched bird and flower earrings! What started out as a random “find” amongst my boxes of beads turned into a really fun way to wear earrings. I ended up making all sorts of colour combinations, but today I have opted for yummy yellow and purple, such great contrast. Do you like the blue eyes on the bird!? They are usually brown, but I thought…end of the year, give it a go. I would like to say a massive THANKS to you all for your likes, your words of encouragement along the way, your enthusiasm that made new things happen. Also for the people who liked the earrings enough to buy them, thank you. I have had a wonderful year of making a pair of earrings (nearly) every day. Yes, I missed a few days here and there, but for the most part I did what I set out to do. Some days it was really easy, and some days it felt almost impossible, and along the way I tried all sorts of new ideas and learned so much too. It will be a bit hard to give up daily creative challenge, and yet I already have so many things to look forward to next year that I can’t wait to share with you all. Enjoy your New Years celebrations wherever you are. See you all next year!!
Month: December 2020
Kandinsky Inspired Earrings
Day 365. Of course it’s a leap year, and I have one more day to go! But that’s ok, it’s been fun to look back on some of the most liked posts, and the Kandinsky-inspired earrings seemed to get lots of likes this year, so I thought I would make two pairs for the penultimate post of the year. When I started making these beads MANY years ago, I made them in both the round and the square styles, but then for several reasons just focused on the square shape. The other day while I was making beads I thought I would try the round shape again and feel quite happy about them. What do you think? Round or square?
Long Enamel Copper Tube Earrings
Day 364. I played with copper and enamel this year and kept coming back to the enamel copper tubes to add to my jewellery. Also, just letting you know @tartscollective has a sale table set up over the next couple of weeks, and I have all sorts of pieces on there (mostly earrings)! All of my pieces are reduced by about 40% in order to clear some space for next year!
Citadelle Gin Earrings
Day 363. I will also continue to add to my range of recycled glass jewellery next year. I was so happy to discover Citadelle Gin as the bottle is a gorgeous colour. A collection of work made from this bottle will be available at some stage on January. Stay tuned.
Pearl and Recycled glass earrings
Day 362. Very happy to add to my range of jewellery with freshwater pearls this year. These earrings feature recycled glass beads made from Hendricks Limited Release Gin and Moet Champagne bottles.
Cluster Earrings
Day 361. Cluster earrings were definitely some of my favourite earrings to make and wear this year! So many different variations, so much colour.
Merry Christmas
Day 360. I hope you have enjoyed your Christmas Day as much as I have enjoyed mine. Sparkly wine bottle beads with small red Italian glass feature in this pair of earrings.
Green Earrings
Day 359. Happy day before Christmas! So many beautiful shades of green, it’s no wonder green has been a popular earring choice this year.
Stationmasters Gallery in Strathalbyn
Day 358. @stationmaster5255 gallery is closed for painting at the moment, so I am slowly getting some new earrings and bracelets ready for when they reopen on January 2.
Favourite Earrings
Day 357. Three of my favourite things from my earring challenge this year: the long hooks, pearls and ocean inspired beads! I have tried all sorts of different things this year and learned so much from this daily challenge. Only 9 days to go!
