Colour Wheel Necklaces with fine silver wire details

This is my last post about the Colour Wheel.

I have really enjoyed playing with all of the different colours, and types of beads, and making all sorts of different pieces of jewellery.  I love the colour wheel, and I love playing with colours.

Thanks for giving me a chance to show you some new work.  Next month, something different again.  A closer look at recycled glass, and the different colours.

Flinders Street Market – Craftapalooza weekend

Oh, there is going to be so much to see and do at this weekend’s Flinders Street Market.  There are loads of different workshops on each day.  Loads of great stalls (including mine)!  I’ve heard there will be lots of great special offers.  Yummy food and drinks.  It’s all indoors too, so you don’t have to worry about the weather forecast!

My special offer for the weekend (or while stocks last) is a free bracelet making kit with purchases over $15.  If you want to hang out for a while, I’ll even help you make it!

Check out the workshops on offer via this link: Flinders Street Market Workshops.

Free with any purchase over $15 at Flinders Street Market this weekend!

Colour Wheel Necklaces on leather

I have had a lot of fun making this series of colour wheel inspired necklaces.  What I liked about putting the beads onto the leather was that it didn’t look like a colour wheel when it was finished.  It does have all of the colours, but when you layer the necklace, the result is a lot more random.  You can layer the necklace at least 3-5 times, and each time you get a completely different look.

Colour Wheel Jewellery

At the moment I am slightly obsessed with the colour wheel!  I have always worked with a colour wheel in front of me when I am making beads, hoping that it will help me choose colours that work “well” together.  And now that I am making “Colour of the Month” jewellery, I have been even more obsessed.

I love how the colour wheel works.  I love how you can look at one colour on the colour wheel, and then look at the colour opposite that and see it’s complementary colour.  That idea doesn’t always work for me, and I tend to look at the colours next to that complementary colour, also known as the split-complementary colours.

I love how there are general guidelines that do seem to work when putting colours together, but then I also love how you can put unexpected colours together, and that can still work too.

To celebrate the colour wheel I have dedicated the month of July to a range of necklaces based around the colour wheel.  Today I am showing you the simplest and sweetest of the necklaces, the one that I have been wearing almost every day since I made it (the one my daughter and I are “sharing”).  The beads are strung on silk cord, and the necklace is adjustable.  I have been wearing it at it’s longest measurement, and it looks super on all of my black clothes.

If you click on any of these necklaces, it will take you to the shop where you can find out more about them.

The Colour Brown – with Purple

This is part of a series of posts about colour.  This month I am focusing on the colour brown.

Brown with Purple!  Yes, an all time favourite, I love how feminine this colour combination is!  I wrote about it over here too.  This is the colour combination that inspired me to dedicate a whole month to the colour brown!  I’ve really enjoyed looking at brown, and all of the colours that work with brown.

You can find the following necklaces in my online shop, just click the photo and it will take you to the shop.

Next month will be a surprise!  If you are subscribed to my newsletter, you will find out about the Colour of the Month tomorrow, and you will have the first chance to buy the jewellery listed (at special prices)!

Back by Popular Request…

RedIsBackI am re-listing some red Italian Glass jewellery.  I have had several requests over the last few months for some of this style of jewellery, and it made me start thinking about what I was offering in my online shops.

So, now I have re-listed the red version of the jewellery that I have been making, but you can always change the colour if you like.  So, for example, let’s say you like the red necklace on the leather…but you wanted black beads…just let me know and I’ll make it for you.  I’ll even take a photo before I send it, just to be sure you are getting what you want.

Coming soon: I will put together a special page of colour options that are really easy for me to do, but again, if you are after a specific colour that is not there, just let me know, and I’ll see what I can do!

The Colour Brown plus Turquoise

I ended up liking every colour that I put with brown this month, which is really amazing, because I don’t really like the colour brown!  When I put it with turquoise it ended up looking very retro and funky, and I nodded my head approvingly!  The turquoise really pops on the brown.  And I especially love it on this dark blue/grey dress.

The Colour Brown – add some Green

This is part of a series of posts about colour.  This month I am focusing on the colour brown.

Remember last month when I was talking about the colour red?  I mentioned that the complimentary colour for red was green.  And I might have mentioned that I wasn’t a huge fan of that colour combination because it looked a bit “christmassy”?

Well, the same cannot be said for the colour brown with green.  Colours straight out of nature (think trees), but they work so well in jewellery too!  What I really like about this combination is that it can be worn with lots of different clothes.  All of your browns, greens and even RED will work with this jewellery.
