Colour Play #1 – Flowers

chakra flower necklace

This month Colour Play is all about flowers!

I have been making necklaces with these beads for a while now, and just recently I have simplified the design! They are now a bit easier to make, and a bit prettier to wear too.

The studs are a perfect pop of colour as we head towards cooler weather here in Australia.

Anyway, here is the first colour play in the series. Of course…it’s the colour wheel, rainbow, chakra combination. If you’d like to check out the shop, click here.

Lovely blue bracelet…

blue glass bracelet

This bracelet took me hours to make!

I started making it yesterday, but it wasn’t working out so well.  I couldn’t get it right with the beads that I had made. It needed a good night’s sleep, and a rethink on how to use the beads, and this is what I finally made. I really like how the beads made from a Blue Depression glass plate (the ones that are etched), contrast so nicely with the sparkly beads made from vodka, gin and wine bottles. Really quite pretty, different, unusual, interesting, quirky! If you are curious about other Blue Depression glass jewellery that I have made, simply click on this link.

Blue Recycled Glass Earrings

I have been enjoying trying new things, tweaking old designs, and coming up with new work as part of my “Year of Recycled Glass Jewellery“.

Today I have used some Banrock Station wine bottle beads, and mixed them with Bombay Sapphire Gin bottle beads. I love how nicely these two colours work together. I also really like the stud earring here, and of course….they are very dangly!

All about red #4

red glass bracelet

A recap of Colour Play this month: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3.

This final week I have made an asymmetrical red bracelet, and a pair of earrings that will work perfectly with that bracelet. For those days when you don’t really need/want to wear a necklace, but would like something to adorn yourself!

This bracelet sits so nicely on the wrist, the longer beads help to keep it anchored, and the sparkly beads, well, they really sparkle! I have made this bracelet approx 20cm long, but it can be altered if you need.

These earrings are perfect for everyday wear. They are comfortable, with a splash of red. They are approx 4.5cm long.

Here is a quick link to the shop in case you need it!

Monochrome Recycled Glass Earrings

recycled glass earrings

I have been having a lot of fun playing with the beads that I made from a Hendricks Gin and Banrock Station bottle. They work together so nicely! I couldn’t resist making a pair of asymmetrical monochrome earrings to add to the collection.

PS It was a bit tricky getting this finished today because it’s actually my daughter’s 9th birthday! Happy Birthday Ciara, hope you had the best birthday ever.
