View from my studio

It was tricky finding time in my studio last week, because we had some family days to celebrate Finn’s 4th birthday!  Oh my, it’s hard to believe this boy is now 4 years old.

I’m finding moments here and there to get work done, trying to get enough together for Gathered – a new market in Adelaide.  This market is in the Queens Theatre, and it really showcases some of South Australia’s great designer/makers.  I love how they support South Australian artists.  Click on this link for more details.

Hi there!  It’s winter solstice!  It’s almost my favourite day of the year!  I love winter solstice because I know from here on in it’s all longer days and warmer weather!  Well, soon enough it will be.  Yay!

I’ve been busy getting ready for the Etsy market on Saturday.  This will be held at Flinders Street Market in Adelaide from 10am until 3pm.  I look forward to seeing you there, if you get a chance to go.

I’m also busy working on my SALA exhibitions.  They are both really different, and I am enjoying the process of putting both of them together.  I’ll share more details as the time gets closer.  They both run throughout August.

The special discount in my Etsy shop is available until 30 June…but…you have to subscribe to my newsletter to get the extra special offer.  It might just be worth it!  I’ll have some new listings going up before the 30th June.

On my walk this morning…

Thanks to everyone who visited me at Flinders Street Market on Saturday!  I am always grateful when people take time out to stop by to say hello and maybe pick up a special piece for themselves or someone else.  Thank you!

I’m excited about the week ahead.  I’m starting work on a new Colour Play series, and this time it’s quite different from the other collections.  I’ll be finishing the Red Colour Play on Wednesday.  Next week I’ll have the new collection ready to show you.  If you are subscribed to my newsletter, you’ll be the first to see it!

Speaking of my newsletter…congratulations to Chris who won a pair of earrings this month.  Thanks for letting me know you are enjoying wearing them (and getting compliments)!  That message really made my day.

Nearly sale time…

Around this time every year I have a look at the jewellery that I have on hand: some of the jewellery returned from consignment shops after they have been refreshed, some from exhibitions, and some experiments.  I spend a bit of time thinking about whether to take them to markets or whether to put them in different galleries, or whether to sell them online.  It’s kind of tough.  Most of the time I just think “I’ll put them on the Sale Table at T’Arts, and whatever doesn’t sell, then I’ll think about what to do with that.”

So, this year there is, for some unknown reason, an abundance of earrings!  Not so many necklaces.  Not sure if I’ll find any bracelets yet.  I haven’t quite finished getting things ready, but here is a sneak peak of the earrings that I have got ready:

The sale starts on Saturday, December 26 at 10.00am.  T’Arts is located in Gays Arcade, off the Rundle Mall in Adelaide.  The sale will finish after about 2 weeks.

Thanks to everyone who braved the heat and visited Flinders Street Market on the weekend.  It was great to see so many people out and about.  That was my last market for this year.  And for the first time in a long time…I have no idea what markets I will be doing next year!
