On my walk this morning…

It was so lovely to walk this morning.  The last few days have been very busy and very tiring physically.  We moved house!  Actually we moved into our own home.  It’s been such a long journey for us to finally be living in our own home.  I am so grateful that we are finally here!

At school drop off this morning one of the mums told me she had finished all of their Christmas shopping.  I was impressed.  We haven’t even started thinking about any of that yet!  Are you a last minute shopper too?  Don’t worry.  If you are last minute, and you need some jewellery gifts, then you can find me at the following markets this weekend and next weekend.  If you miss the markets, you can always find me at one of the shops where I sell my work.  Each shop has a different range, so if you are after something specific, let me know so I can point you in the right direction.

Here is the view from my walk this morning:

A quick note about postage

At the moment, packages that I am sending are either getting to their destination really fast (which is the best), or they are taking a ridiculously long time to get there!  I have been so frustrated with a few packages sent recently!

The reason I am mentioning this is because if you are thinking about ordering something from me for Christmas….now would be a great time to do that.  It would give you the best chance of receiving your gift in time.

If you are overseas, packages *should* take around 2 weeks to be delivered.  I have been experiencing longer times than that recently.

If you are in Australia *most* items should be received within 2-3 days.  I would allow at least a week at the moment.

If you would like to upgrade any packages to Express Post, please contact me and I can certainly do that for you.  It does cost a bit extra though.

Thanks for understanding.

New recycled glass jewellery

I have been working with a shop in Melbourne, creating a new range of work using recycled glass, and I have to say I have been thrilled with the results.  I have modified some of my current work slightly, and now I can’t wait to make more pieces.

Each set contains a leather wraparound necklace, a simple bracelet, a pair of long earrings, and a pair of studs.  The beads are etched and shiny, making a really interesting selection of beads.

So far I have used Coopers Sparkling Ale, Peroni Beer and Coopers Clear Beer.  I definitely think there will be more to come!

On my walk this morning…

Sorry for the delay in posting this!  We’ve been having a little break with my mum and dad.

Back to normal now though.

The break was great, I read a book, did lots of crocheting, and the kids had a great time with their Nanna and Pa!

I’m looking forward to the rest of the holidays, and to getting ready for the Port Festival!

Hope to see you somewhere soon.

Colour of the week – Peroni

I admit that the Peroni Beer Bottle beads started as a bit of a joke.  You see, it’s an Italian beer, and that is where most of the glass that is used for glass bead-making  is manufactured.  I thought it would be funny to take the Italian Beer bottle, and recycle it to make glass beads!

Funnily enough, the green of that beer bottle is probably the prettiest bright green glass that I have used.  I have made beads from a huge variety of wine bottles, but none of them come close to the brightness of the Peroni Beer.  I’m glad I tried it.

Here are some photos of recent works, with links to my shop.

On my walk this morning…

No walk for me this morning, in fact it’s been almost a week since my last walk, and I’m really missing it.  I’ve been quite sick, the sickest I’ve felt for a long time, and I don’t like it at all!

Here’s to a week of feeling better.  I think I’m almost better, but I’m still trying to get as much rest as possible.  It’s hard being sick, and having kids, and having a small business to run.  Not ideal at all.

On Saturday I’ll be at Flinders Street Market again.  Round She Goes (the vintage market), is on at the German Club, so it is a great opportunity to check out 2 really cool Adelaide markets.

Hope to see you there.

On my walk this morning…

Spring is in the air!

Thanks to everyone who has visited my SALA exhibition at the City Library or Pepper Street Art Centre or T’Arts.  I love hearing from you.  Glad to hear you are enjoying the other work on display too.

SALA is so important to me as an artist.  This year is my 8th solo SALA exhibition, and it has been a great opportunity to display my work in a new environment.

Thank to the Adelaide City Library for having me, to the Adelaide City Council for helping me with the costs, and to SALA for pulling it all together!

Have you seen any good exhibitions this year?

  • It’s time to think about my next markets which will be at Flinders Street Market on Sunday August 16 and Saturday August 29.  Really looking forward to them, and I’ll have some new products available there.
