Gin o’clock?

recycled glass earrings | beads made from a Hendricks Gin bottle

I made a pair of earrings similar to this the other day, with niobium hooks, but today I had some disk beads with pixie dust on them and I thought I would see what it looked like with that little addition. Hmm…quite liked it! I like how the two silver beads are different and still work so nicely together.

The beads in these earrings were made from a Hendricks Gin bottle.

Cool Colours

I’m not loving the cold weather here. I don’t really enjoy winter, I kind of endure it! It’s a season I have to get through to get to the warmer weather. I just try to keep busy, keep making, keep going.

I have been enjoying making beads with the cooler colour themes though and you’ll see some more of them as part of my Colour Play series of work.

But for now, I will share with you a pair of earrings that I made from a Banrock Station wine bottle, decorated with assorted colours of frit. I love how these beads look together. So pretty!

Niobium earrings #4

recycled glass earrings

This is the final pair of niobium earrings to show you. I had four different colours to play with and all of them were great and worked well with the different beads that I teamed them up with. I think this is the most simple colour combination, which might make it the most versatile.

Asymmetrical earrings

recycled glass earrings

Yesterday I was looking through some old photos of my jewellery. I came across some old work that I had made for a Flame On exhibition at Kirra Galleries. The earrings were asymmetrical and I really liked them. I think most of the earrings sold from that exhibition, so it made me wonder why I hadn’t made more like them, or even remotely similar to them. This morning as I was trawling through my beads, trying to find pairs that matched for earrings….I had a sudden realisation….I didn’t have to match them if I was going to make them asymmetrical. Yay, that made it easier to find some lovely beads that all kind of worked together, hence this pair of earrings:

Niobium earrings

recycled glass earrings

Someone asked me recently if I could make earrings from niobium. I did a little search of the jewellery suppliers where I get some of my findings and managed to find several different colours. This is the first pair that I have made. I like the contrast in the ear-wires, and the way it works with the beads that were made from a Hendricks Gin bottle. Really adds to the design.

Earrings to match

recycled glass earrings

I don’t normally feel compelled to make earrings to match a necklace, but as I was putting yesterday’s necklace together, I had these beads on my table, so this morning I thought…let’s see! Definitely not colours that I normally put together but I find myself really liking them.

Ice cold

recycled glass earrings

It’s so cold here at the moment. We were driving around yesterday and the temperature was something like 7 degrees. This was during the DAY! Really!

Anyway, I have been feeling a bit icy, so I made a pair of earrings to reflect that feeling. I love clear earrings, they tend to pick up and reflect different colours which makes them really interesting.
