Oh my gosh, these earrings!

recycled glass earrings

A little while ago I made a necklace that featured Coopers Ale beads with gold leaf on them.

Someone left a very kind comment saying they would like a pair of earrings like that, so it got me to thinking: how could I make earrings like that?

Here is the end result! I tried this pair on to see how they would feel, and I was thrilled to feel absolutely amazing with them on! They are bigger than other earrings I have made, quite a statement, still light, very sparkly and super feminine.

I have to say that I am loving this year of creativity. I am finding that I am constantly jotting down ideas for all sorts of things: beads to make, glass to try, and all sorts of pieces of jewellery to contemplate. I hope it continues for the rest of the year, but so far….so good!

Hendricks Gin Bottle Earrings

recycled glass earrings

I was given an empty Hendricks Gin bottle a while ago now, and I have kind of held onto it, waiting for the right time to smash it and turn it into beads! Then I was given another empty one not that long ago, and then I was given an actual bottle of gin for Christmas! So, with three bottles to play with it felt like the right time to smash one of them and start making beads. And I’m glad I did, because the glass is lovely to melt, and the end result is a super dark brown bead that looks really elegant. I have made the first beads into a pair of earrings, and I’ll be making a bracelet to share with you very soon.

Coopers Ale bottle roll

recycled glass earrings

If you have ever had a bottle of Coopers Ale, you might know that it needs to be rolled before you open it. Well, I feel like I am on a bit of a Coopers Ale bottle roll at the moment with this project. Today I am featuring a pair of earrings with a lovely contrast in all of the beads. The same glass, from the same Coopers Ale beer bottle, finished three different ways. Subtle, but so pretty.

Colour Play – Earrings #4

And finally it was time to tweak a couple of pairs of studs just a little bit to make some new and (hopefully) interesting pairs.

The first pair of studs was made from a Banrock Station wine bottle.  I flattened the beads and also etched them.  I do love the soft etched finish!

The second pair of earrings was made from a Peroni Beer bottle, and I have used one of my favourite flower beads, and turned them into studs.  Transparent, shiny and sparkly, they are a bit different from what I have made in the past, as they are usually opaque.
